On June 24, 2011, Manish Khatri, a cellphone dealer in Mumbai, said in his tweet, Iphone 3Gs with warranty for one year now available for rs .19990/- only....physical stocks will be available tom. In Delhi also many mobile phone dealers have confirmed that they have received fresh stocks of iPhone 3GS, 8GB model. With the lower sale price Apple will be hoping to compete with many cheaper Android based touchscreen devices that have flooded the market.
Few weeks ago, the Samsung had reduced the price of its Nexus S by about six thousand, to Rs. 19,990. The Nexus, which runs on Android 2.3, also known as the Gingerbread, has a 4-inch capacitive screen, 512MB RAM, 16GB internal storage and is powered by a 1Ghz processor. The Nexus S will now fall in the same price category as the Apple 3GS, which has a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen (320 x 480 pixels) and is powered by a 600Mhz processor. The iPhone 3GS supports the latest iOS from Apple, version 4.3, and this makes the device a worthy competitor to not just Nexus S but a whole range of other Android based smartphones.
The iPhone 3GS is going to be sold in the unlocked form and will run on the GSM network of any operator. There would be no dearth of those who might like to claim that Apple is dumping its old models in India, but the truth is that for many users an iPhone at less than 20,000 is still an enticing deal.
