On 4G, Airtel subscribers will be able to enjoy an improved smartphone experience, with faster web browsing, downloads video on demand, and many other services.

As part of the contract, Ericsson will provide its multi-standard radio equipment from the Ericsson RBS 6000 base station family for macro and small cell networks. The agreement also includes deployment of Ericsson’s LTE RAN software for Bharti Airtel. The solution works seamlessly with the existing 2G and 3G networks deployed by Ericsson. In addition to Delhi, Ericsson has also partnered Bharti Airtel to deploy LTE networks in 4 other circles.

INTRODUCTION OF ERICSSON RADIO SYSTEM AND ERICSSON HDS 8000
Accordingly, at Ericsson Connect, the company announced the introduction of its new, Ericsson Radio System to the Indian market. The Radio System is a completely new approach to building radio networks on the road to 5G, with multi-standard, multi-band and multi-layer technology. It delivers the industry's most energy-efficient and compact radio solution, while maintaining performance leadership at half the size and weight of previous solutions.
Ericsson Radio System reduces site acquisition issues and delivers three times the capacity density with a 50 percent improvement in energy efficiency. The system gives network operators the infrastructure they need to support growing mobile data needs, which are predicted to reach 25 exabytes per month globally by 2020, when 5G is expected to be commercialized. With the Ericsson Radio System, total cost of ownership (TCO) will be reduced by 20 percent.
Ericsson also announced the upgrade of the existing Ericsson Cloud System by introducing Ericsson HDS 8000 (Hyperscale Datacenter System) to the Indian market. Ericsson HDS 8000 is a new generation of hyperscale datacenter system that uses Intel® Rack Scale. Architecture for a disaggregated hardware approach that dramatically improves efficiency, utilization, automation and TCO. Combining this disaggregated architecture with optical interconnect technology removes the traditional distance and capacity limitations of electrical connections. This enables a more efficient pooling of resources, which has a positive impact on utilization and energy consumption.
