Andhra governments Aarogyasri Health Care Trust (AHCT) which offers health insurance scheme to Below Poverty Line families (BPL) for treatment of serious illnesses will soon be deploying analytics solution from SAS to optimize its operations and reduce cost overheads.
SAS analytics solution will provide AHCT real-time access to data which will help it understand the lead time between pre-authorization approval and surgeries conducted across hospitals. It will leverage claims, financial and clinical data in forecasts that will ultimately root out fraud, spot disease trends, and lead to preventive health measures. AHCT also hopes that the analytics solution will enable it to forecast the funds requirement to implement the scheme and enable it to mapp the infrastructure needed and other key requirements.
By understanding disease trends, Aarogyasri can redefine its coverage packages and negotiate better prices with service providers. At the same time, it will be able to continue efforts to eliminate pre-existing disease load among catastrophic cases. As disease trends improve, so do premium costs, thus extending the trusts ability to cover even more diseases.
In the long term, our aim is to eliminate pre-existing disease loads in the areas of catastrophic health needs, and extend benefit coverage as premium costs come down, says N Srikant, CEO Aarogyasri Health Care Trust. The goal is to provide universal BPL population coverage and enable government hospitals to improve infrastructures and services.
Combining public-health infrastructure with the private sectors medical expertise, AHCT aims to improve and provide quality in all areas of health care. Set up under the aegis of the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the trusts schemes are tailored to the health needs of poor patients, providing end-to-end cashless services for identified diseases through a network of public and private providers.
