Today, any job or career, the compensation is determined by the growth of the sector. IT managers are no exception to the rule.
It would be interesting to find that 36 per cent of the respondents representing the manufacturing sector are not very satisfied with the bonus and salary hike, while 20 per cent of the senior IT managers express satisfaction over their compensation. In IT & ITeS sector, about 40 per cent of the respondents are very satisfied with the package whereas 44 per cent feel they have been paid far below the industry standards. However, the senior IT managers don’t seem to loose hope and aspire for a better growth and compensation this year.
There are many factors that have indicated positive results from the study that ITNext conducted. The motivating factors are – Better compensation and benefits, Enhanced personal development, exposure to international practices, greater opportunities for advancement and professional work environment.
Majority IT managers from various industries confess that they are satisfied with the compensation and benefits. Similar trend has been reflected in IT Managers’ view about enhanced personal development. Between 2 to 5 per cent of the respondents across industries feel exposure to international practices help them in their current job, which in turn helped them in fetch rise in the salary packages.
Increase and satisfaction levels have been majorly observed in the metro regions. For instance, about 35 per cent of the respondents are from Delhi & NCR region, Bangalore stands second with 22 per cent of the respondents have participated from the garden city of India, followed by 18 per cent from Mumbai.Consistently, 3 to 4 per cent of respondents have found professional work environment to be the motivating factor at work across industries while majority of them considered greater opportunities for advancement in career to be motivating them to keep their interest levels high.
